About — Beckley, WV Veterans Day Celebration

Our Story

About the Celebration

For generations, the people of Beckley, West Virginia have gathered every November 11th to honor the men and women who served our nation. This is the story of that tradition.

Who We Are

A Community United
in Gratitude

The Beckley Veterans Day Celebration is an annual community event organized by local civic leaders, veterans organizations, and dedicated volunteers who believe that honoring those who served is one of the most important things a community can do.

What began as a small gathering in the years following World War II has grown into one of Raleigh County's most cherished traditions — drawing hundreds of residents, veterans, and families together each November 11th.

We are not a government agency or a large organization. We are your neighbors — people who love this community and believe our veterans deserve to be celebrated loudly and with pride.

What Guides Us

Our Values

Gratitude

We believe every veteran deserves to hear "thank you" — loudly, publicly, and with the full weight of community behind it.

Community

This event belongs to Beckley. It is organized by neighbors, attended by neighbors, and dedicated to the neighbors who served.

Honor

We hold the ceremony with the dignity and solemnity that our veterans' service demands — from the opening colors to the final taps.

Remembrance

We never forget those who made the ultimate sacrifice. Gold Star families are honored guests at every ceremony.

"The willingness of America's veterans to sacrifice for our country has earned them our lasting gratitude."

— Jeff Miller
